Michael J. Hejna, M.D., Ph.D., President
Dr. Hejna is a Board-certified orthopedic surgeon with an
active practice specializing in cartilage repair. He trained under Dr.
Allan Gross of the University of Toronto, the recognized world leader
in the field of cartilage transplantation. Dr. Hejna holds a Ph.D. in
biochemistry from Rush University in Chicago.
Koichi Masuda, M.D., Vice President,
Director of Research and Development
Dr. Masuda is an orthopedic surgeon who holds an appointment
in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Rush Medical College in
Chicago. With eight years experience as a full-time investigator in the
field of cartilage biochemistry, he is positioned as a critical bridge
between academia and surgical practice. He has published extensively
related to the behavior of cartilage cells.
Eugene Thonar, Ph.D., Vice President,
Secretary and Treasurer
Dr. Thonar is the George W. Stuppy, M.D., Professor of
Arthritis at Rush Medical College, where his primary appointment is in
the Department of Biochemistry and he holds conjoint appointments in
the Departments of Orthopedic Surgery and Internal Medicine. He has
published over 180 original manuscripts on the structure and behavior
of cartilage, and he is on the editorial boards of several orthopedic
and scientific journals.
Howard S. An, M.D., Vice President,
Director of Clinical Investigation
Dr. An is Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Rush Medical
College in Chicago where he holds an endowed chair. He has published
extensively and is internationally renowned in his field.
